Job Requirements & Duties

  • Help farmers and landowners create legal plans to pass their farms to the next generation
  • Assist new agricultural businesses in getting the licenses and permits they need to start and grow
  • Explain zoning and land use laws so clients understand what they can do with their land
  • Protect landowners’ rights while considering environmental laws and conservation
  • Help prevent fraud in packaging and labeling to keep food and products safe and honest
  • Use knowledge of agriculture-related issues to provide legal advice to individuals and organizations

Education & Training

  • Becoming a lawyer requires completing a bachelor’s degree, achieving a good score on the Law School Admission Test (LSAT), and passing the bar exam to practice law.
