Job Requirements & Duties

  • Conduct tests to check food products for taste, texture, appearance, and overall quality
  • Develop methods to preserve food, extend shelf life, and make production more efficient
  • Identify issues with food products and create solutions to improve flavour, nutrition, and quality 
  • Collaborate with quality teams to ensure all food products meet safety and quality standards
  • Share test results and ideas with management or product teams to guide decisions
  • Monitor food trends, consumer preferences, and production methods to find opportunities for new or improved products
  • Work with suppliers, farmers, or agricultural partners to source ingredients

Education & Training

  • A university degree in food science, nutrition, or a related field is usually required. Hands-on experience with food production or working with agricultural ingredients is also valuable.
