Job Requirements & Duties

  • Grow flowers on the farm or greenhouse and sell them to local florists, designers, or markets during the growing season
  • Buy flowers from wholesalers during off-season months to meet customer needs
  • Meet with customers to understand their ideas for arrangements or events and provide price quotes based on their requests
  • Design and make floral arrangements for homes, events, and special occasions
  • Track inventory and make sure there are enough flowers and supplies to complete orders on time
  • Arrange deliveries to customers, event venues, and other floral shops
  • Keep the shop, greenhouse, or work area clean and organized
  • Plan planting schedules and care routines to ensure healthy flowers throughout the season

Education & Training

  • No formal degree is required, but a diploma or courses in floral design, horticulture, or plant landscaping can be helpful.
  • Learning about business, marketing, or economics can help if you want to run your own flower farm or shop.
